Hi, I'm Ran.

I currently work at OpenAI on its multimodal effort. Previously, I led machine learning and product efforts at Instagram (Feed, Stories, Notifications), Threads (all of its ML, 0→1), Meta GenAI (video gen), AWS AI (SageMaker and Kendra) and startups.

I received my PhD from UW and commercialized my research through a semiconductor chip design startup Elenion (acquired by Nokia). I hold 9 US patents and published more than 80+ papers.

Outside work I read, take photos, play cello, roll in BJJ, and tinker with mechanical keyboards.
